IECC Dual Credit Orientations
High school students taking dual credit classes at Frontier Community College, Lincoln Trail College, 챬, and Wabash Valley College will get the chance to prepare with dual credit orientations. LTC and OCC will host in-person sessions and there will also be a virtual session.   “Dual Credit Orientation is an introduction to what college classes are like,” says IECC Director of Dual Credit Erin Volk. “College classes are a change for high school students, and we want them to be prepared so they can be successful.”

Combs Joins LTC as Music Instrumental Instructor
Jena Combs has joined Lincoln Trail College as a Music/Instrumental Instructor and will lead the jazz band and pep band. She also teaches general education music classes, instrumental lessons, and classes geared toward music majors like music theory. Combs earned an Associate in Science and Arts from 챬 in 2011 and then transferred to Eastern Illinois University. She graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music with teacher’s certification. Combs obtained a Master of Arts in Music with a concentration in Music Education from EIU in 2021.

FAFSA Fridays
Illinois Eastern Community Colleges is excited to announce FAFSA Fridays in August. Every Friday during the month, students may visit the Financial Aid Offices at Frontier Community, Lincoln Trail, Olney Central or Wabash Valley colleges to receive assistance filling out their FAFSA. The 2024-2025 FAFSA process has been even more challenging with the FAFSA Simplification Act, and these days are designed to make the process a little bit easier.

FAFSA Fridays at IECC
IECC is excited to announce FAFSA Fridays in the month of August. Every Friday during the month, students may visit the Financial Aid Office on any of the four campuses to receive assistance filling out their FAFSA.  The 2024-2025 FAFSA process has been even more challenging with the FAFSA Simplification Act, and these days are designed to make the process a little bit easier. “We want to help eliminate the challenges and barriers our students may be facing,” said Program Director of Financial Aid Krystle Riggle.

OCC Music Department Receives $18,000 Grant for New Recording Studio
The 챬 Music Department is the recipient of an $18,000 Johnsie Fiock Fildes Foundation grant, which will benefit its new recording studio. “Because of the grant, we will be able to obtain higher end microphones and cables, all the stuff you would expect to be in a professional recording studio,” said OCC Director of Bands Wade Baker. “We’re excited and grateful to be selected to receive these funds.”

OCC Associate Degree Programs Among the Best in Illinois
챬 has been honored by University HQ in its ranking of the Top 25 Best Associate Degree Programs in Illinois. OCC secured the No. 9 spot in the 2024 ratings by the prominent independent online education organization. “챬 is pleased to receive this No. 9 ranking from University HQ,” said OCC President and Vice Chancellor for Business Chris Simpson. “It is a testament to the high-quality educational experience we provide to our students and the commitment and dedication of the OCC faculty and staff.”

WVJC The Bash Celebrates 50!
The Wabash Valley College radio station, 89.1 The Bash, turned 50 years old this year! The station celebrates 50 years of being on-air as a 50,000-watt station and rocking the tri-state with alternative music! The radio studio is in the science building within the radio and television department. WVJC was granted its first license by the Federal Communications Commission on February 22nd, 1974. To commemorate the event, there will be special promotions for the year, including voices of alumni on The Bash!

1st Annual Theatre Camp
The Wabash Valley Arts Council recently hosted its inaugural Theatre Camp at the Wabash Valley College Brubeck Arts Theatre, bringing together young talents from the community for a week of learning and performance. The camp, open to students entering 5th grade through high school seniors, ran daily from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with a lunch break at noon.

LTC Hosting Walk-In Wednesdays
Lincoln Trail College is once again making it easy for students to prepare for the Fall 2024 Semester. LTC is offering Walk-In Wednesdays on four Wednesdays in June and July for people to take care of a variety of things to help them get ready for the Fall. “The beauty of Walk-In Wednesdays is that you don’t need an appointment,” said Lincoln Trail College Coordinator of Marketing and Public Information Chris Forde. “You can come in and our experts will help you.”
