Early Childhood Education Classes Added for Fall 2023
챬 has added new Early Childhood Education classes for Fall 2023.
ECD 1202 Childhood Teaching Techniques I will be offered from 9:30 to 10:50 a.m. on Wednesdays and 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesdays.
ECD 1203 Health & Safety of Children will meet from 1:30 to 3 p.m. on Wednesdays.
ECD 1206 Developments in Early Childhood also will meet this fall, with dates and times to be determined.
Instructors are Tina Staley and Kayla Reynolds.

OCC 59th Commencement May 12
챬’s 59th commencement exercises will begin at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 12 in the OCC Gymnasium. Friends and relatives of the graduates are invited to attend.
OCC Interim President Roger Eddy will give the welcoming remarks and Dean of Instruction Dr. Mike Conn will present candidates for degrees and certificates.
Illinois Eastern Community Colleges Board of Trustees Member Brenda Culver will confer the more than 360 degrees and certificates being awarded this year. She also will give the “Charge to the Class.”

OCC Combined Concert and Community Band Performance May 5
The 챬 combined Concert and Community Band will present its Spring Concert at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 5 in the Dr. John D. Stull Performing Arts Center.
The evening will feature pieces the band worked on in preparation for its audition for the Percy Grainger Wind Band Festival. The Grainger compositions include Irish Tune from County Derry, Children’s March and Lincolnshire Posy.

Complete A Year's Chemistry Sequence With Summer Organic and General Chemistry Courses
챬 is giving students the opportunity to complete a year’s chemistry sequence through two successive summer courses.
“Students can get these classes out of the way before they begin college this fall or while they are home for the summer,” said OCC Chemistry Professor Dr. Aaron Lineberry. “They can do the entire general chemistry sequence or organic chemistry sequence in just 10 weeks. Both sequences are extremely demanding. With these summer courses, students will have the benefit of taking them in smaller classes over a focused period of time.”

OCC Musical Theater Showcase April 28
Join the 챬 Music Department as the Concert Choir and Musical Theater Workshop students present their Spring Musical Theater Showcase at 7 p.m. on April 28 in the Dr. John D. Stull Performing Arts Center.
“The showcase is a chance for these students to have leading roles, even if it’s only for 4 to 10 minutes,” said OCC Director of Choral Activities Dr. Andrew Pittman. “It’s a chance for all of my students to shine.”

OCC Rock and Jazz Concert April 19
The 챬 Music Department will present its Rock and Jazz Concert at 7 p.m. on April 19 in the Dr. John D. Stull Performing Arts Center.
This evening of music will feature performances by the two Contemporary Ensembles (Rock Bands) and the OCC Jazz Ensemble.

Early Childhood Education Town Hall Meeting April 18
Wabash Valley College is hosting Town Hall Meetings for its Early Childhood Education Program, which is available on all four campuses of Illinois Eastern Community Colleges (IECC). The event will be held at 챬 at 7 p.m. on April 18 in the Student Union. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and no reservations are required.
The Town Hall is open to childcare providers, preschool teachers, high school juniors/seniors, parents of teens, employers, community partners, former students, and parents of young children.

OCC Theater's 'Cinderella' Opens March 24
OLNEY, IL – 챬 Theater will present the musical Cinderella at the Dr. John D. Stull Performing Arts Center, opening on March 24. Cinderella resides under the cruelty of her wicked stepmother and her evil stepsisters until her Fairy Godmother steps in to change her life for one unforgettable night. At the ball, she falls for a handsome prince whose parents are anxious for him to find a suitable wife.

8-Week Mid-Semester Classes Start March 13
챬 is offering several 8-week mid-semester classes starting March 13.
Mid-semester courses are ideal for students who may have dropped a course this spring or for those who need an additional class to graduate.
In-Person classes include:
BUS 1101 Introduction to Business, noon to 12:50 p.m. on Monday and Wednesday
MTH 1103 Liberal Arts Math, 8 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. Tuesday and Thursday
Online courses available include:

ENG 1101 Introduction to Composition

An episode of History’s Greatest Mysteries featuring 챬 Professor David Denton will air on The History Channel at 9 p.m. Eastern/8 p.m. Central on Monday, February 13.
The episode will explore President John F. Kennedy’s assassination, with Denton sharing insights and discoveries he has made through his extensive research into Kennedy’s death.
