Karlie Berberich Places First in ISSRT Competition
챬 Radiography student Karlie Berberich captured first place in the Illinois State Society of Radiologic Technologists’ e-poster contest.
“I was so surprised when they called my name,” Berberich said. “When they said it was someone from OCC, I was wondering who it was. I had no idea it would be me.”

Complete Summer Math Courses in Just 6 Weeks
챬 is offering three summer hybrid math courses students can complete in just 6 weeks.
MTH 1105 Trigonometry will meet from 8 to 8:50 a.m. and MTH 1102 College Algebra will meet from 9 to 10:50 a.m. MTH 1103 Liberal Arts Math, which meets math requirements for graduation, will be held from 11 to 11:50 a.m. All three courses will meet Monday through Thursday, from June 6 to July 19, with Instructor Lisa Benson.

Route 1 Closure to Impact LTC Entrance
The Illinois Department of Transportation is replacing a bridge on Illinois Route 1 just north of Illinois Route 33. The road will be closed from May 16, 2022, until the project is completed, which is expected to be in mid-September.
Lincoln Trail College will only be accessible from the north during the construction and visitors should allow extra time to arrive to campus.
Detour:
Use North Jackson Street in Robinson to North Trimble Road to Illinois Route 1.

Upcoming May 15th Total Lunar Eclipse Dubbed "Prime-time Totality"
During the night of May 15-16, Mount Carmel and the surrounding region will experience a total lunar eclipse. The event is described as a “prime-time totality” by timeanddate [sic].

Ayers Named Teacher of the Year
The Illinois Adult and Continuing Educators Association recognized Lincoln Trail College instructor Danyelle Ayers as the 2022 Arthur J. Stejskal Teacher of the Year. She received the award at a virtual ceremony on May 5, which is Teachers Appreciation Day.

Phi Beta Lamba Students Win State Honors
The Lincoln Trail College Phi Beta Lambda brought home eight state finishes at the recent State Conference in Effingham.
Ezequiel Fernandez Carunchio took first place in the Marketing Concepts category. Nicholas Harness was second in Macroeconomics and Juan Solivellas Garcia was third in Macroeconomics.
Mackenzi McIntosh finished fourth in both Organizational Behavior and Leadership and Personal Finance and Garcia was fourth in Microeconomics.
Carson Musgrave earned sixth-place finishes in Computer Concepts and Personal Finance.

Lincoln Trail College Phi Theta Kappa Earns Recognition
Lincoln Trail College’s Alpha Iota Epsilon Chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society earned international recognition at the PTK Catalyst event. LTC was named a Top 100 Chapter and received a Distinguished Honors in Action Project Hallmark Award.
Phi Theta Kappa chooses its Top 100 chapters based on equally-weighted Honors in Action and College Project scores. The organization has nearly 1,300 chapters in 10 countries with approximately 240,000 active members.

OCC Jazz Ensemble & Concert/Community Band Performance May 6
The 챬 Jazz Ensemble and the combined Concert and Community Band will present their Spring Concert at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 6 in the Dr. John D. Stull Performing Arts Center.
“We are thrilled to be performing live and in-person again for the first time since the pandemic began,” said OCC Director of Bands Wade Baker. “The students are all incredibly excited to get to perform for the community and the band is sounding really good.”

Process Technology Students Take 3rd in National Competition
Lincoln Trail College Process Technology students took third place in the North American Process Technology Alliance’s Troubleshooting Skills Competition in Pasadena, Texas. LTC’s team consisted of Sheldon Myers, Travis Selby, Brandon Blackwell, and Levi Dennison.
